Patti often takes the term "mixed media" to the next level. A lettering artist by true definition, she is always working to develop creative new ways to express the written word. This month's collection does not disappoint and features both encaustic and printmaking techniques.
Encaustic is an age-old art form using beeswax, resin, and colored pigments as the painting medium. These luminous layers offer a unique and original work of art. Many of the pieces include vintage hymn pages which add to the old-world feel.
Van Dyke prints, lithographs, and serigraphs printed on handmade paper round out this month's collection. All of the pieces are hand-created by Patti, who uses images ranging from angels to city streetscapes. Many of the images are printed in a sepia tone which blend well with the vintage themes. In addition to the beautiful new framed works currently featured in our window, Patti has a large assortment of other framed and unframed works plus a collection of unusual decorative pieces.
